WOF repairs in Whangārei

Failed your warrant? Bring us the sheet and we fix what is on it.

A failed WOF is a list, not a verdict. Bring us the inspection sheet and we work through every item on it, quote it in writing before we start, so you can get back to the testing station inside the 28 day recheck window. We do not issue WOFs here. We fix the reasons you failed one.

What happens after a WOF fail

  1. Day 0

    The car fails its WOF.

The station gives you the sheet. Photograph it and send it to us, or ring.

  2. Next

    We quote the sheet.

Item by item, in writing, with what must be done to pass and what can wait.

  3. Then

We fix what you say yes to.

Parts ordered, work done, nothing added without a call first.

  4. Before day 28

    Recheck, usually free.

Back to the same station inside the window and the recheck normally costs nothing.

What do people ask about WOF repairs?

How long do I have to fix a failed WOF?

In New Zealand you have 28 days from the failed inspection to fix the items and go back for a recheck at the same testing station. Most stations do not charge to recheck the same items inside that window, so check when you book it. Miss the window and you pay for a full inspection again, so ring us the day you fail.

Do you do WOF inspections?

No. We are a repair workshop, not a testing station, and we do not issue WOFs or COFs. That is deliberate. The person fixing your car should not be the person deciding whether it passes. Get the inspection done anywhere in Whangārei, then bring us the sheet. If you are not sure which items on the sheet are urgent, photograph it and send it through before you drive anywhere, and we will tell you which ones affect safety and which can wait for the booking.

Can I drive my car after it fails a WOF?

Only to get it repaired or reinspected, and only if it is safe. If the sheet lists a safety item such as brakes, steering or a tyre with cord showing, ring us first and we will tell you whether to drive it in or have it collected.

Will you fix everything on the sheet or just what I ask for?

We quote the whole sheet, item by item, and you choose. Some items are safety critical and must be done to pass. Others we will tell you honestly if they can wait. Nothing gets done without your yes. A typical sheet might list worn front pads, a blown number plate bulb and a split wiper blade. The pads are the money and the safety item, the other two are minutes of work, and the quote shows each line so you can see where the cost actually sits.

What if the fail is rust or structural?

We will tell you straight. Structural rust needs a certified repairer and some cars are not worth it. If that is the answer, you will hear it before you spend a dollar with us.
